Meet Julian DeGuzman
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Julian began his dance
training at a very young age. Training under Janet Taddie at Castro Valley
Performing Arts in tap, jazz, and ballet, Julian has won numerous regional and national titles throughout his youth. Julian continued his training at the University of California, Irvine, where he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. At UCI, Julian has worked with world-renowned faculty and choreographers Loretta Livingston, Israel “El” Gabriel, and Rennie Harris. He is also currently a member of Breed’s contemporary company “Entity” and modern dance legend Donald McKayle’s undergraduate repertory company, the “Etude Ensemble”. Julian has also trained at the San Francisco Ballet School, Alonzo King's LINES Ballet School, and received a scholarship to the 2008 American Dance Festival. Julian joined Team Millennia in 2009 after training in TM’s SI6 Dance Camp, and from there has performed in Toy Box’s project “Inside the Box”, winning 1st place at Maxt Out 2009. Julian still hasn’t figured out what to do after her graduates in June 2010, but hopes to effect change the world we live in by helping those at the bottom of society. Julian’s teaching philosophy is that ALL people should be allowed to dance and have access to training, no matter their race, creed, gender, or financial status!
